Article cover: How to check your Google reviews?
If you are wondering how to check your Google reviews, the fastest way is directly in your contribution profile in Google Maps. The most common obstacles are signing into a different account and the differences in the interface between Android and iOS, which make it easy to miss the reviews tab. In this guide I describe short paths in the app so you can immediately see your ratings, content and review dates. There will also be a way to quickly confirm whether the reviews are assigned to the correct profile, as well as how to check the context of a given review on the place’s business profile. If something has “disappeared”, I will outline neutral signals that may indicate a problem with the account, synchronisation or public visibility.

The simplest way to check reviews in Google Maps on Android and iOS

The simplest path on Android is to open Google Maps, tap the profile icon in the top right corner and choose “Your contributions”. Then go to the “Reviews” tab, where you can see all the reviews you have posted, together with the star rating, text and date. This is the fastest way to check your full set of reviews without searching for them across individual business profiles. If it is your first time after a longer break, just scroll through the list and select the place you are interested in.

On an iPhone and iPad the path is almost identical: Google Maps → profile photo/icon → “Your contributions” → “Reviews”. If you cannot see the tab, it is worth updating the app in the App Store and making sure the correct Google account is active. The absence of the “Reviews” tab very often comes down to the app running on a different account than the one the reviews were added from. In such a case, it is a good idea to switch accounts in the profile settings and relaunch Maps.

In “Your contributions” you may also come across tabs such as “Photos” or “Media” if multimedia was added to the reviews. This makes it quick to check whether the photos are still attached to the review, or whether they have been detached by moderation. If the review was written on a poor internet connection, it may have been saved locally and sent later, so in practice it is worth waiting 5–30 minutes and checking again. It is also a good idea to pay attention to notifications in Maps or email. If you see a notification about a response to a review, but the review itself is not on the list, it may mean you are signed into a different account or that the review has been hidden after moderation.

A quick way through your profile in Google Maps

You can get to your reviews fastest via “Your profile” (sometimes shown as “Profile in Maps”) in the Google Maps profile menu. The profile usually contains a shortcut to the reviews section and a ratings counter, so you can immediately check whether anything has been posted. This is a convenient option when you want to quickly verify activity without digging into “Your contributions”. If you take part in the Local Guides programme, you will also see points and level in the same place, which makes it easier to confirm that you are viewing the correct account.

The “Reviews” tab shows a list of places and ratings, and tapping a selected item takes you to the place details. This is useful when you want to check the context of a review and make sure the correct venue has been rated, because in the place view it is easier to link the review to a specific business profile. Such an “from review to place” path also helps assess whether the post relates to the correct address and company profile. When you often rate similar places, this preview can be the fastest way to avoid mistakes.

How to check reviews in a web browser

You can check your reviews in a web browser fastest by signing into your Google account and going to https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/. In the contributions profile you will find a tile or tab with the reviews you have posted. This is the most convenient method on a computer if you want to go straight to the list of reviews without clicking through the Maps menu. When you see different data than in the app, it is usually about the selected account or sync delays.

  • Sign in to the correct Google account in your browser.
  • Go to https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/ and open the reviews section.
  • If you prefer standard navigation: maps.google.com → menu (three lines) → section such as “Your places” / “Your data in Maps” → “Contributions” or “Your profile in Maps”.

You can also type the phrase “moje opinie google maps” into Google Search and use the shortcut to the contributions profile, as long as you are signed in on the same browser. On a computer, it is usually easier to scroll through the list by date and quickly find older posts, especially when there are many of them. If the profile elements do not load correctly, the cause is often differences between browsers or scripts-blocking extensions (e.g. adblock). In that case, check the view in Chrome without extensions or disable blockers for maps.google.com.

When you see different data on the web than in the app, first make sure the correct account is selected (the avatar in the top-right corner of Google). If it looks like the sync has “gone out of step”, clear the cookies for Google Maps or sign in again, because the cache can mix up profile information. In practice, most differences between phone and computer come down to selecting the wrong account or a temporary problem with refreshing the data. Only if that does not help is it worth comparing the view in another browser.

Are reviews publicly visible and how to check it

The public visibility of reviews is easiest to verify by opening the place listing in incognito mode and comparing it with the signed-in view. If the review is not visible in incognito, but you can still see it on your account, it may have been hidden (e.g. by an anti-spam filter) or attached to a different profile. This is the quickest way to determine whether a review is genuinely public rather than just “visible to you”. For peace of mind, you can also check the listing on another device.

Your review on Google is generally public and usually shows the profile name, photo (if set), content, rating and date. Other users can open your profile and see a list of your reviews, provided the profile is public. Bear in mind that the Google profile name is displayed, and it does not have to match your full first and last name. If you want to change the signature on your reviews, you need to change the name in your Google account settings, and the update will also apply to other services (e.g. Gmail).

On the place listing, your review is sometimes marked as “Your review”, which makes it easy to confirm quickly that it appears under the correct business. The business owner sees the review just like everyone else: with the profile name and any photo, without access to your email address or phone number (unless you included them in the text). If the number of reviews on the profile matches, but a specific item is not publicly searchable, that is often a sign that the system has hidden it or that there are visibility issues. Also remember that Google allows you to leave only a star rating without a comment, so sometimes “no review” simply means there was no text to find.

How to edit or delete reviews in Google Maps

You edit your review in Google Maps directly from the list of submitted reviews in “Your contributions”. Go to Google Maps, open your profile, move to “Your contributions” → “Reviews”, select the relevant item and use the “Edit” option (often under the three dots). You can change the star rating, the text and add or remove photos, and the changes are usually visible within a few minutes. If you only want to fix an error or clarify the content, editing is often safer than deleting and posting the review again from scratch.

You can also delete a review, but it is worth knowing what that means in practice. Deleting a review removes it both from the place listing and from your profile, and the owner has no way to “restore” it. If the business has changed its standard, staff or offer, the more sensible solution is often to update the existing review rather than adding a second one for the same place. You can also change the star rating without altering the text, and if the situation has changed, it is worth adding a single explanatory sentence.

Photos added to a review can also be removed later, independently of the comment itself. If they accidentally show personal data (e.g. a number plate or a document), remove the media in the review edit screen or in “Your contributions” under the “Photos” tab, because multimedia is sometimes separated from the content. If there is no edit option, this is usually caused by an app bug or a lack of synchronisation — in that situation, updating Google Maps, clearing the cache, or editing through a browser on a computer usually helps (reviews list → three-dot menu). If the place is marked as “permanently closed”, the review usually still exists, but its visibility may be limited, so if needed, copy its content to your own archive.

Key information: editing is safer and quicker for small tweaks, whereas deletion is permanent and irreversible by the owner.

Organising and filtering reviews by date and place

A specific review is quickest to “find” by opening the listing for a given place and spotting the “Your review” label. That way, there is no need to dig through a long list of reviews in the profile, especially when you rate many similar venues. If you do not remember the name but know the area, use the map: find the area, click the place and check whether your review is shown there. Context-based search also makes it easier to make sure the review belongs to the correct listing.

Reviews by date are most often organised by scrolling the list to the period when the review was added. Google does not always provide polished filters in the profile, so a practical solution is to go back to a specific month and orientate yourself by the visible dates. On a computer this is often more convenient, because it is easier to scroll quickly (e.g. with the Page Down key) and copy fragments into notes to pinpoint the right entry precisely. If after editing the date looks different (e.g. as “updated”), it may change the position of the review in the chronological view.

Links and “quick shortcuts” make organising reviews easier when you want to return to them without starting the search from scratch. In the contributions profile, you can copy the public URL to the profile and share it with someone if the profile is public, and to reach a single review most reliably, go through the place listing and the “Share” option next to the review (if available). If you suspect a duplicate listing (e.g. an old and a new one), open the review from the profile and click the place name — Maps will open exactly the listing to which the review is attached. If the translation of the content is also confusing you, use the “Show original” toggle if needed to make sure what was actually published.

Organising reviews is also helped by consistently adding recognisable details to them and regularly refreshing the most important entries. If you have many short ratings, every so often you can update key reviews and add specific information (e.g. what was purchased, how the service went) so that later it is easier to find them by a distinctive fragment. When you need the review text for a complaint or correspondence, copy it from the profile on a computer and save it together with the date and the place name. This is particularly useful because after changes to the content Google can display the date and review order differently.

Exporting and archiving reviews through Google Takeout

You can download your Google reviews to a file via Google Takeout at takeout.google.com, selecting data from Google Maps. In Takeout, the “Maps (Your places)” package is usually selected, and the downloaded archive often contains a “Reviews.json” file with review content, ratings and place identifiers. This is the most reliable way to keep your own copy of reviews, regardless of how the Maps interface currently displays them. If you want a smaller file, deselect the other services and leave only the elements linked to Maps.

In the export settings, you can choose the .zip archive format and set a size limit (e.g. 2 GB), which makes it easier to download the data to your drive. The .json file can be opened in simple tools such as Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code, and sometimes even in a browser (although large files may take a long time to load). If you want to review the data in a more “tabular” way, you can use a JSON→CSV converter, keeping privacy and the sensitivity of the content in mind. Takeout is also useful when you want to confirm when a review was added, because after editing in Maps, the “updated” label may appear.

Archiving also makes sense when you need proof of what exactly you wrote at a given time. A quick method is a screenshot with the date, place name and profile name, and in the long run it is worth keeping the full text and the review link (the “Share” option, if available). Since Google does not provide a convenient version history for reviews, before making a major content change it is worth copying the previous version to your own archive. This makes it easier to reconstruct the context when the order of reviews or display dates changes after an update.

Troubleshooting review visibility issues

If your review is not visible, it most often points to a problem with the account, synchronisation, or the review being hidden by the moderation system. If you can see the review on your side but others cannot, it may have been automatically filtered out or assigned to a different profile, so it is worth comparing the view on another device. If the problem appeared after editing, wait 24–48 hours, because the review is sometimes re-evaluated for spam and may be temporarily hidden. If needed, try simplifying the content and removing “risky” elements (e.g. links, excessive capital letters, repeated phrases).

If the reviews have “disappeared” from the list, the most common cause is signing in to a different Google account (e.g. a personal one instead of Google Workspace) or switching profiles in Maps. Problems loading the summary can also result from cache and app errors. In such a situation, updating Google Maps, restarting the phone, and on Android also clearing the app cache (Phone settings → Apps → Maps → Storage → Clear cache) can help. Depending on the country and version of the interface, the names of menu items may differ, so if the instructions “do not fit”, a practical check is to change the app language and find the “Contributions/Reviews/Opinions” section in the profile. For business accounts (Google Workspace), administrator settings and restrictions may additionally affect the stability of reviews and the contribution history.

If the review has been removed for violating the guidelines (e.g. sensitive data, off-topic content, advertising), all that remains is to report the matter via Google Maps Help with specific information. Likewise, if the company changed its name or address and a new Business Profile was created, reviews may have been transferred or split. In that case, it is worth opening the review from the profile and checking which version of the Business Profile it is attached to, and then reporting the duplicate or asking for a merge. Business owners may also see a different layer of the view when logged in, so it is a good idea to verify public visibility independently of the management panel. When escalating the issue, please prepare the basic details that will help to diagnose it:

  • the place name and a link to the Business Profile,
  • the approximate date of the review and the rating (e.g. 2★),
  • information on whether the review is visible in your profile,
  • a description of the result of the test on another device (and possibly in incognito mode),
  • a brief description of whether the problem appeared after editing or changing the content.
